Svay Rieng: Svay Chrum Primary School in Svay Rieng Province sells seeds, flowers, seedlings, compost, and natural vegetables to supply teachers, students from 4th to 6th grade. Mr. Chan Sam An, Principal of Svay Chrum School, confirmed to 25 new media that the school now needs funds to build more classrooms to teach underprivileged students from 1st to 3rd grade.
Svay Chrum Primary School is a school that cultivates children to love the environment and grow vegetables, fruit trees, compost in the schoolyard in Svay Kngor village, Svay Chrum commune, Svay Chrum district, Svay Rieng province. In addition to improving the garden, life skills, and environmental management around the school in the school year 2021-2022, this school has opened classes for weak students from grades 4 to 6.
For overtime students, the school pays tuition fees for a total of 86 students. In a telephone interview with 25 new media outlets, Mr. Chan Sam An stated that all the teachers' expenses came from the sale of seeds, flowers, seedlings, compost, and natural vegetables grown by students on campus.
Mr. Chan Sam An said: "Income to support the teachers he teaches poor students. Therefore, the school strives to earn a living for them, such as refueling to facilitate his teaching. We only give them 20,000 or 30,000 a month”.
However, the income from the sale of vegetables, seedlings, etc. is not enough to supply teachers and schools. Mr. Sam An added that the school needs to build more rooms to be a laboratory, an art room, and a classroom for low-income students.
Regarding the additional teaching for the underprivileged students, Mr. Chan Sam An explained that out of the total of 86 students who need to receive additional training, there are 48 students in two shifts and 4 teachers in total. He added that students who study in the morning must come to study in the afternoon. In the afternoon, students have to come back in the morning to study 6 days a week and 2 hours a day.
